What is the difference between an investment adviser and a Private Investment Counselor?

An investment adviser typically focuses exclusively on the investable assets in your portfolio; and assists with asset allocation strategies, manager selection and portfolio management. As your Private Investment Counselor, Jack specializes in helping you get the most value from all of your advisers — financial and non-financial — and developing strategic and tactical initiatives that will optimize your wealth management environment and help you achieve your goals.

We already have several trusted advisers. Why do we need a Private Investment Counselor?

Most private clients, endowments and enterprises with exceptional wealth receive advice from multiple advisers (e.g., estate and financial planners, attorneys, accountants, bankers, brokers, insurance professionals and asset managers). Ironically, multiple advisers can have a negative impact on achieving long-term goals and objectives when their recommendations conflict, decision-making is fragmented, or interdisciplinary actions are uncoordinated. As your Private Investment Counselor, Jack will help you synthesize recommendations across multiple adviser disciplines, provide critical decision-making counsel and develop a comprehensive strategy for managing your resources and achieving your long-term goals.

What is your background and why are you suited to act as a Private Investment Counselor to my clients?

As founder of Reynolds Group, Private Investment Counselors™, Jack works in collaboration with advisers to strengthen client relationships, improve interdisciplinary decision-making processes and enhance the risk adjusted investment returns of client portfolios. His innovative approach to wealth management adds value to adviser relationships by developing a comprehensive approach for achieving long-term investment, philanthropic, governance and estate goals.

Jack has over 25 years of experience providing investment, legal and consulting services to the high net worth market. He has also served as the lead investment trustee of multiple family trusts, and the designer and lead investor of a complex multiple-share class family LLC. Jack's business acumen and hands on operational expertise are the result of having played a key role in launching a highly successful nationwide company; and advising clients who have built successful companies or inherited substantial wealth.

Reynolds Group, Private Investment Counselors™ is a Registered Investment Advisor with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (S.E.C.) under the Securities Act of 1940.

What value can you add to our Investment Committee above and beyond its well-qualified members?

Managing wealth is not unlike managing a business. Clients, like companies, require multiple expert advisers to help them achieve their wealth goals. Often times, clients who have built their wealth have a tremendous amount of knowledge and power in their area of expertise, but lack the required experience and resources to move from creating wealth to managing, preserving and transferring wealth. Similarly, clients who have inherited their wealth often lack a foundation of financial confidence and expertise to manage their wealth in the most productive manner. As a Private Investment Counselor, Jack can help you identify and understand the implications of your investment decisions above and beyond the scope of traditional advisers. Specifically, Jack will help you develop a sophisticated, comprehensive understanding of your wealth environment and take the best actions to achieve your long-term goals. This includes: developing a structured approach to managing a complex wealth environment, qualifying investment recommendations, developing best practices for decision-making and participating in the decision-making process.

What are the benefits of using a Private Investment Counselor?

Investment advisers, estate and financial planners, attorneys, investment strategy consultants and others are key components of a comprehensive, yet complex wealth environment. Jack works in collaboration with you and your advisers to:

• extract the maximum value from each adviser,
• leverage their collective expertise,
• develop and implement sound practices to enhance risk adjusted investment returns,
• engage the next generation in decision-making processes, as appropriate, and
• participate in the decision-making process with the asset owner(s).

Benefits of Private Investment Counseling

• Emotional Benefits: You maintain a sense of control over your entire wealth
environment and enjoy a higher level of confidence that you are getting the maximum
value from your advisers and investment oversight costs.

• Educational Benefits: You gain a better understanding of the risks and consequences
of your investment decisions and gradually gain the expertise required to make optimal
investment decisions.

• Cultural Benefits: Your wealth management environment works as a collective
enterprise, with efficient internal operations, sound decision-making processes,
impeccable adviser coordination and maximum adviser productivity. As a result, you
spend less personal time managing your wealth and more time enjoying your wealth
and other individual priorities.
